Lot size for EURGBP on MetaTrader 4. Risk percent and stop in pips, lots to open out.
Built for MetaTrader 4 New Order. Same formula on every symbol: risk money divided by stop distance times the value of 1.00 lot per pip or point. Check Tick value in Specification if your broker’s contract is not the preset.
Presets are common CFD specs. If MT4 Specification shows another Tick value, type that number. Brokers round lots (often 0.01). Spread can take the stop before your distance.
EURGBP is the euro quoted in British pounds: the price tells you how many GBP one EUR buys. EUR is the base currency and GBP is the quote currency, which is why profit and loss on EURGBP is booked in GBP first.
1.00 standard lot of EURGBP is 100,000 EUR. One pip is 0.0001. Pip value for 1.00 lot = 100,000 × 0.0001 = £10 per pip, paid in British pounds. That is £1 per pip on a mini lot (0.10) and £0.10 on a micro lot (0.01).
For a US dollar account, multiply the British pound pip value by the GBPUSD rate: pip value in USD = £10 × GBPUSD for 1.00 lot. The calculator above does this with the latest rate.
The calculator uses one formula on every market: lots = risk money ÷ (stop in pips × value of 1.00 lot per pip).
Example: a £10,000 account risking 1% (£100) with a 20 pip stop on EURGBP: £100 ÷ (20 × £10) = 0.5 lots.
Double the stop and the lot size halves, with the same £100 at risk. That is the whole point of sizing from the stop instead of picking a lot size first.
